Interesting Nats Stats

Starcitygames.com has compiled some interesting stats from the 2010 National Qualifiers last Satuday, May 15th.

Jund was 28.33% of the top 8s, 5 1st places.
Mythic Conscription was 18.33% of the top 8s, 7 1st places.
U/W control was 12.22% of the top 8s, 3 1st places.
U/W/r Super Friends was 8.89% of the top 8s, 2 1st places.

Jace, the Mind Sculptor was the most played non-land card in all the top 8 decks, featured in 51.11% of said decks.
Lightning Bolt was in 38.89% of top 8 decks.
Elspeth was in 36.67% of top 8 decks.
BBE and Baneslayer tied and were in 34.44% of top 8 decks.
Gideon was in 32.78% of top 8 decks.

this is so stupid! A deck that costs over $600 is actually doing it in tournaments! Jace isn't even close to leveling off in price, so it seems. It looks like it would be less expensive to play extended than standard! Sign me up for play-sets of Dark Depths!

Yah it's pretty insane. If there was any Legacy support around here I'd actually probably invest in some older cards. I mean a playset of Force of Wills is like $400-600 but they're still going to be playable in 10 years, whereas cards like Baneslayer/Jace will only see play for the year that they're standard legal.

If Baneslayer is re-released in M11 then it's going to be around for a long time not just a year...
