Consuming Vapors targets players, not creatures. Any player is a legal target, doesn't matter how many creatures they control. If the targetted player has no creatures to sacrifice, no life is gained. | |

| Also, it says "you may cast this spell" So if there are no legal targets that work in your favour you do not have to cast the card again. | |
