In the Gatherer's Oracle and printed entries on the Walking Atlas, it is stated that the card's type is "Artifact Creature - Construct" despite the card itself having the Artifact part omitted from the type line.

It is safe to assume that the Walking Atlas should be treated as an Artifact Creature.

On the WOTC website they said as much. I wonder how many people in R&D looked at that card and thought something was wrong.

hmmm, I can't remember ever seeing Wizards screw up like that before. The cards colour should have been a big clue to them that its an artifact.
