Doesn't look like this game has very much in common with magic. Just a generic turn based strategy game with a magic themed skin pack. Oh well maybe the core strategy elements will be interesting enough

Here's a video trailer, game looks well ugly tbh. Character graphics are muddy especially their faces.

Edit: okey they're not that bad.

Alright third trailer here with an interview and a shot of the menu screen. Low and behold there's a section called "shop" and auction house where you have to buy packs to increase your collection. It even talks about drafting etc.

Graphics look ok. I found it funny how the guy makes a point to say you don't play with a deck. Instead you play with a spellbook. Then in his next sentence he says "let's build our deck" Laughing

Similar elements in the game to the card game but I can't imagine current MTG players will want to buy this if they are already playing MTG online. For me it would feel like re-buying the same cards all over again.

The game is still in the alpha development stage so who knows what features will make it to the final release. I am a bit curious to see if this game does well or lasts very long.

I just can't accept the business model for this. Making you buy individual "cards" in "booster packs" is absurd. It's like buying a chess set that comes with a random assortment of pieces that you have to continually re-buy if you want to have a complete set.

What's worse is these pieces are simply electronic data with no long term value or collectability. So they're crippling anyone who doesn't want to constantly fork out money. It's bad in the TCG but micro transactions in videogames are the horrible.

I miss the days when you used to slap down your 60 dollers for a game and own everything in it from day 1, just like everybody else. Competitive play seems to take a back seat to making a back in the majority of games these days.

Not interested in this game at all. Already pay for paper cards and some MTGOnline cards, not going to start wasting more money on this!

Nickel-and-diming is the way the world's going. These developers realize they can make long-term gains by implementing these kinds of sales methods. Its to the point where developers would be doing themselves a disservice (financially) to not incorporate such things. It's common practice and will only get more widespread as time goes on.
