| Found it. On Gatherer.
"If there are no nonland permanents on the battlefield other than an Oblivion Ring, and the card it exiled was another Oblivion Ring, casting a third Oblivion Ring will result in an involuntary infinite loop that will end the game in a draw (unless someone chooses to break it by putting another nonland permanent onto the battlefield or destroying one of the Oblivion Rings, for example)."

| This sounded weird to me, but it is true. - Quote :
- 104.4b If the game somehow enters a “loop” of mandatory actions, repeating a sequence of events with no way to stop, the game is a draw. Loops that contain an optional action don’t result in a draw.
713.4. If a loop contains only mandatory actions, the game ends in a draw. (See rule 104.4b.)
713.5. No player can be forced to perform an action that would end a loop other than actions called for by objects involved in the loop. However: - Quote :
- 713.3. Sometimes a loop can be fragmented, meaning that each player involved in the loop performs an independent action that results in the same game state being reached multiple times. If that happens, the active player (or, if the active player is not involved in the loop, the first player in turn order who is involved) must then make a different game choice so the loop does not continue.
If there was another non-land permanent on the battlefield, the active player would be forced to break the loop.

| I always thought that forcing the game into an infinite loop resulted in a loss, fitting punishment for fucking with the laws of Magic. So, I wasn't very right, really.
I like how this is a sort of "don't cross the streams!" situation. O-rings touching can blow up the game state, hah!
I sure hope O-ring gets reprinted, it's such a valuable part of standard and has been for a couple years now. I can see it in either M-11 or more likely, Scars of Mirrodin.

| Scars of Mirrodin is rumored to be enchantment based so in all likely hood that is when we'll see O-Ring. | |
